How did you two meet or how did he propose?:
Joey and I met in college and after almost 9 years of dating we always joked that there was no way the proposal could ever be a surprise since we knew each other so well and could always tell if something out of the ordinary was going on. We were in San Diego where I was going to be running my first marathon and Joey and I grabbed dinner and a bottle of wine to watch the sunset and he completely shocked me! I was so caught up in the upcoming race I didn't have a clue! It was perfect!
Were you happy with the venue?:
Yes! We absolutely loved Encanterra for our venue! We planned our wedding from Texas where we were living at the time and knew we needed a place and coordinator that could help with the stress of a long distance wedding and we could not have been luckier! The venue itself is so incredibly gorgeous but the people, food and service made it even that much better!
Describe the theme or color scheme of your wedding, and what you chose for your table setting at the reception:
We knew we wanted warmer fall colors for the flowers since we were married November 2nd but also wanted to stay simple since the venue itself had so much to offer visually. I could not have been happier with the amazing florals Jan Dekker Designs created. She took the many different ideas and changes we had (with patience!) and brought exactly what we pictured to life!
We kept the table settings very simple with small florals and succulents since we knew the meal only lasts so long and wanted people to focus on getting up and having fun!
What piece of advice would you give other brides planning their big day?
I think the most common advice is to try not to stress about the details and take it all in as best you can that day! While it's nothing new I think it's truly the best advice since you only get one and at the end of the day the most important thing is that you get to marry your love!
Tell us about your photographer. Why did you choose this photographer?
Lindenleaf Photography (now Joyride Photography) were our photographers and they were incredible! Tara and Becca were with us the whole day and did such a great job of capturing every special moment in the perfect way!
We loved the more casual/natural feel a lot of their pictures had but what really sold us was how sweet and outgoing Tara was! She made us feel so comfortable throughout the entire process which is so huge on such a big day!
Were you happy with the whole experience?
Overall we couldn't have asked for a better day! While the planning always has it's stressful moments, wed do it all again in a second!
