How did you two meet or how did he propose? Nik and I met through a mutual friend in college. Soon after meeting, I noticed him in one of my classes. We struck up a friendship which eventually turned into a supportive, loving relationship. Six years later, we were exchanging vows at the Ahwatukee Foothills Golf Club.
Nik proposed on a beautiful beach in Hawaii, the Big Island. We were on vacation with his parents when Nik asked me to go on a sunset walk. Nik took me by the hand as we walked to the water's edge where he proposed marriage. Nik's mom made a heart encapsulating N+K out of white coral on the dark lava rock where Nik proposed. We incorporated the same N+K, heart shaped design on our wedding cake. How lucky we are!
Were you happy with the venue? Extremely! Kelli, our wedding coordinator, is a wedding ninja! Honestly, I do not believe another coordinator could have made our special day run any smoother or make it any brighter. Kelli facilitated, coordinated and hosted a beautiful event. Kelli walked us through the process and made sure that the evening went off without a glitch. Kelli went above and beyond throughout the entire planning process and we are so grateful for all of her efforts. Kelli has a can-do attitude which gave us a calmness and security that we were undoubtedly in the most capable of hands. The venue is gorgeous with incredible views of the Foothills mountains and golf course. It is an ideal spot for photos of the infamous Arizona mountain sunset. We would highly recommend Ahwatukee Foothills Golf Club for couples searching for a wedding venue.
Describe the theme or color scheme of your wedding, and what you chose for your table setting at the reception: Orange and Ivory were our colors. Karin, our florist, would have better detail on the centerpieces, but we had a variation of orange flowers on each table. We included gold chargers and hired out to have Chivari chairs. Also, my family put together honey pots for each guest. If we were to categorize our reception into a theme, it would most likely be an "Autumn Wedding" since we were married October 26th.
What piece of advice would you give other brides planning their big day? Stay calm and carry on. It is inevitable that glitches will arise along the way. It's okay. Expect it. Ultimately, take comfort knowing that all the little details fall into place. Surround yourself with trusted friends, family and coordinators such as Kelli at the Ahwatukee Foothills. Allow for plenty of time to plan. The process can quickly become overwhelming. It helps to have others to assist in the planning.
