Bailey & AJ

A Real Wedding at SoHo63

1. How did you two meet or how did he propose?: AJ and I met our freshman year at Perry High School. However we did not start dating until our Junior year when he asked me to the Junior Prom. We dated throughout high school and we continued our relationship long distance while I attended the University of Arizona and he attended the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. AJ proposed in the backyard of my childhood home. The yard was decorated with lights, flowers and our high school memorabilia. Our families were hiding inside the home watching live from a GoPro. After he popped the question we popped some champagne and celebrated with our families.

2. Were you happy with the venue?: YES! SoHo63 is simply amazing. Jessica and the whole team worked continuously to ensure our entire day was perfect. Every email and question I had throughout the planning process was responded to promptly. As the wedding quickly approached SoHo63 staff would check in on me to ensure I was feeling good about the timeline and getting 'to dos' checked off when they needed to be. The week of the wedding I did not have to worry about a single thing. The staff confirmed all my vendors, arrival times and set up information. The day of the wedding went off without a hitch. The staff ensured we were well taken care of by bringing us food, water and drinks throughout the night. They kept the event running on time by checking in on the wedding party and vendors. I am forever thankful for their diligence and hard work. Our guests were raving for weeks about the wedding. I would recommend SoHo63 again and again, they made our special day feel like the most important date in their books.

3. Describe the theme or color scheme of your wedding, and what you chose for your table setting at the reception: We wanted a simple and elegant military wedding. Our colors were navy with gold accents. The tables had classic white florals and navy table clothes with gold accented decor such as gold chargers and votives. The cake and sweetheart table both had a navy shimmer table cloth. Above the sweetheart table was a hanging floral centerpiece featured with dangling crystals. Our dessert table had cookies and cupcakes accented by white and gold frosting. The room was set with amber lighting to create a warm and elegant space. The groomsmen wore simple black tuxedos or the military mess dress while the bridesmaids wore elegant matte shimmer dresses. We wanted our day to feel timeless and elegant, by sticking to this theme everything tied together to create our perfect wedding.

4. What piece of advice would you give other brides planning their big day? Wedding planning can seem both daunting and stressful. Break up the to do list and plan to check only a few things off each day. One of the best things I did to manage stress and enjoy the planning process was to have 'detox' days where you don't talk about the wedding, plan or check off 'to dos'. Instead I recommend going on a date with your fiance to celebrate the exciting season of life.
