Hot Off the Runway: Striking Trends From Bridal Fashion Week

1. Lace, Lace, and More Lace!

It’s without a doubt that lace wedding dresses will always be in style. This year, designers incorporated several lace fabrics into pieces that hit the runway this Spring. Most notably, designers trended toward heavy, embroidered lace with large designs.

2. Black Accents and Black Dresses

For brides who want an edgy, non-traditional look on their wedding day, look no further… the blackwedding dress is here! Bridal Fashion Week featured numerous black dresses from designers such as: Reem Acra, Vera Wang, and Hayley Paige. In addition, some designers included black accents to complement white gowns, providing a sharp contrast between light and dark pieces. We love the way the black waistband breaks down the silhouette of this gorgeous Marchesa wedding dress.

3. Capes & Capelets

This year, designers also introduced sheer or lace capes and capelets to the runway. After all, it is your big day, why not let your inner heroine shine? The capes fall at floor length, while capelets drape across the shoulders and chest. Check out this floor length Monique Lhuillier sheer lace gown and cape, delivering true regal elegance.

4. Bell Sleeves

Another trend we spotted on the runway this season is bell sleeves. Designer Hayley Paige created this beautiful boho-chic gown with embroidered lace bell sleeves, sure to enchant any audience as the bride walks down the aisle.

5. Feathers & Fringe

How about some feathers or fringe to give your wedding dress extra pizazz. Feather and fringe wedding gowns arrived on the runway this year, from by designers such as: Hayley Paige, Marchesa Notte, and Naeem Khan. These styles were seen on both short and long dresses, adding a lively twist to an otherwise classic look. Designers also used feather or fringe to create full gowns, jackets, and sleeves.

6. Light Blue Dresses

Now how about that something blue? The Spring 2018 show also featured several light blue dresses. This dazzling Randy Fenoli dress is reminiscent of Cinderella’s ball gown dancing the night away with Prince Charming.

7. Pantsuits

SAY YES TO THE… Pantsuit! Designers really captured all styles in bridal fashion, from incorporating pants under a cut-out skirt to pantsuits paired with short jackets. Pantsuits are perfect for the bride who desires a sleek and sophisticated look on her wedding day. Designer Oscar de la Renta fashions pants and a lace top with an oversized bow.
