Splendor in Sedona! Our new cover is on newsstands today. This picturesque Sedona Wedding Venue: Poco Diablo Resort was the scene for our styled photoshoot. Sedona’s Poco Diablo Resort features 22-acres of stunning landscape, complete with ponds, fountains, willow trees and Sedona red rocks. Sally Arnold of Celebrations by Sally incorporated an Art Deco theme to complement the beautiful, natural setting of the resort.
Sally wanted to create a design that would provide a contrast against the resort’s stunning natural setting, so she chose an Art Deco theme with a dramatic color palette of black, white and gold. For our bride, she selected a flowing white gown with a geometric Art Deco pattern that inspired some of Sally’s other design choices.
We love how Sally mirrored the gown’s design in the laser-cut placemats she had created out of rich black suede. She also had diamond cutouts lasered into the suede menus that were stamped with glittering gold lettering. Naturally, Sally wouldn’t want to block the amazing views, so she displayed the matching escort cards on a piece of clear, custom-cut acrylic.
Sally wanted the linens for this photo shoot to be luxurious, and La Tavola certainly didn’t disappoint. Her textured white tablecloths complement our bride’s gown perfectly. Jacqueline of Jacqueline Rose Cakery even repeated the floral pattern of the linens on her black-and-white three-tiered cake. Then, Sally gave the sweetheart and escort card tables a more modern feel by choosing bold black, white and gold metallic patterned linens. Her crisply folded gold napkins beautifully highlight the sparks of gold in the menus and escort cards.
You wouldn’t expect to find an urban black-and-white design juxtaposed against the rugged beauty of the red rocks, but Tony Medlock of PJ’s Flowers & Events rose to the challenge. He created gorgeous white-on-white floral arrangements using Phalaenopsis and cymbidium orchids, Mondial roses, and Hypericum berries, then accented his designs with natural Manzanita branches and black Midollino sticks.
Our bride is wearing a sparkling crystal hair accessory that Sally wore at her own son’s wedding. Elegant drop earrings and the perfect pair of Jimmy Choos complete the look. Our groom is suitably attired for his big day with his sharply tailored three-piece suit and traditional black tie provided by Mr. Formal.
Sally had a vision for her Art Deco wedding design and she delivered on it in grand style. We can only imagine that the Great Gatsby himself would have approved.
