Lisa Foster, event planner and owner of Stylish Events by Lisa, had a young millennial couple in mind when she designed this wedding for our photo shoot at Scottsdale wedding venue JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa. And while the overall design was fabulously formal, Lisa added a few modern wedding touches all her own.
WHEN CLASSIC MARRIES CONTEMPORARY For her color palette, Lisa started with the classic colors of black and silver then added accents of green and blush for an updated look. For the invitation suite, Amanda Harper of Pine & Cactus began with a traditional monogram style and included classic and contemporary wedding style touches like floral prints and green velvet ribbons that are so right on trend. We love her round menus — they’re a refreshing departure from the classic square.
LET’S TABLE THIS For her tablescape, Lisa chose rectangular tables to create a more intimate setting. Her silver Chiavari chairs sparkled just like the fountains near the resort’s gorgeous lakefront patio. She balanced her formal black tablecloths with beautifully unstructured floral arrangements that Andrea McKay of Garden Gate Flowers created with an array of pastel blooms and fresh greenery. Lisa also chose textured silver chargers to add depth to the table and the green napkins add a bright pop of color.
FAB FURNITURE Any wedding guest would be lucky to lounge on the fabulous seating area Lisa created by tapping into the luxe inventory Amanda Chernauskas of Vintage Chic Rentals maintains. Lisa chose fun accents like fur and sequined pillows and a modern mirrored coffee table. What a reflection of great wedding design!
TAKE THE CAKE Color blocked cakes are big right now and the expert pastry team at the Scottsdale wedding venue JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa created this three-tiered wonder in green, white and marbleized silver. Fresh florals nicely top it off.
SIMPLY ELEGANT We can’t take our eyes off the stunning, form-fitting gown Lisa chose for our bride. The delicately beaded lace overlay and two-toned effect is absolutely elegant. And the softly colored blooms Andrea used to create her gorgeous bouquet look like they were handpicked from a garden just moments before the ceremony. With such an elegant bride, the natural choice for our handsome groom’s attire was a classic black three-piece tux with a formal bow tie. It looks like Lisa’s brilliant idea to marry classic and contemporary styles will live happily ever after!
