Lisa & Mark

A Real Wedding at Shenandoah Mill

1. How did you two meet? We met in January 2003 at a sports bar watching the NFL playoffs.  We start chatting with one another and the next thing you know Mark is eating French fries off of my plate and the rest is history.

2. Tell us about the proposal.  The proposal was very simple and intimate.  It was Christmas morning in 2014.  It was the first Christmas that I can remember in the eleven years that we had been together that we were alone.  I had unwrapped my present from Mark and there it was “the ring”.

3. Describe the theme and color scheme of your wedding, and any favorite details (ceremony and/or reception) you included in your special day.  Our wedding colors were coral and grey. Our theme was simple and laidback, country/rustic.  We (Mark’s daughters, my bonus daughters and several friends) made the center pieces and the flower arrangements that were four Gerber Daisies with baby breath.  Our favorite detail about the wedding was family.  We both come from large families, we are both one of seven children.  Having our family be part of the ceremony plus being in attendance was the best part of the day.  Another fun detail that we incorporated into the wedding was a Chicago Cubs theme and cake topper. In addition to a fabulous dessert table put together by great friends.

4. What words of advice would you give other couples planning their big day? I would tell couples to give themselves time to plan the wedding and make it simple (it will give you more time to enjoy the day).
